Manchester United chiefs are willing to DOUBLE Gareth Bale's Real Madrid salary to bring him back to the Premier League.
The Welshman is currently locked in new contract talks with Real and is demanding parity with the club's highest paid players - including Cristiano Ronaldo.
United boss Jose Mourinho would love to work again with Bale and has spoken with chief executive Ed Woodward about moving for the former Tottenham star.
It's emerged that Woodward has met with Bale's agents in recent weeks to the lay the groundwork of a bank-busting 2017 deal.
Troubling for Real is their current €11 million-a-year offer to Bale is 'just' half of the €22 million-a-year Woodward has intimated United are willing to pay, says Don Balon via The Times.
For the moment, Bale has remained keen to stay with Madrid, but is demanding a salary that matches his believed status.
