Manchester United have made an opening offer for AC Milan captain Leonardo Bonucci.
Bonucci only moved to Milan a year ago from Juventus, but a change of owner and Financial Fair Play penalties could see him sold in the coming weeks.
La Repubblica says United boss Jose Mourinho has moved quickly and tabled a €32m bid for the Italy international.
However, Milan have told Mourinho to come back with a bigger offer, knowing United are not the only suitor.
The Rossonero are only willing to sit down and discuss business for an opening bid of €40m.
