Man Utd skipper Rooney should start alongside Tottenham ace Kane - Scholes

Paul Scholes believes former Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney is without doubt a starter in England's Euro2016 squad.

The Old Trafford legend was discussing the quality of the Three Lions roster with the Daily Mail when he suggested that it should be Rooney and Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane up front ahead of Leicester City's Jamie Vardy this summer.

“I'd probably still start with Wayne in a No 10 or a No 9 role up front with Kane," Scholes said.

“I'd maybe keep Vardy as sub for the last 20 minutes and see how it goes. If it doesn't start great then there are options.

“It's the best thing about this squad - so many options."
