Man Utd skipper Rooney fit to face West Brom

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal says Wayne Rooney is fit to face West Bromwich Albion.

Rooney suffered a knee injury in the closing stages of last weekend's 3-0 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park.

"Rooney is fit to play, it was not so heavy as we expected," the manager explained. "Wayne is very important for us, so I am very happy.

"(Phil) Jones is fit but we have to see his match rhythm, of course. But (Luke) Shaw has trouble with his groin so he cannot play."
