Manchester United captain Gary Neville was full of praise for Jonny Evans after their 1-0 win at Stoke City.

Evans was a late replacement for Rio Ferdinand, who was forced out after suffering back spasms in the pre-match warm-up.

"Jonny Evans is a really good centre back and, like everyone else, he's prepared to step in at a moment's notice," Neville told MUTV.

"Jonny's used to playing in physical matches. He's been on loan at Sunderland in the Championship, which is probably more physical than the Premier League in terms of dealing with high balls."
