Manchester United captain Gary Neville is confident Cristiano Ronaldo will resist all interest from Real Madrid.

"He knows he's at the right club," Neville told ITV1 when asked whether he thought the winger would head to La Liga.

"The adulation he receives, everything he would want is there.

"The manager's made his position clear, so I don't see a problem with that."

On Thursday, Ronaldo told Brazilian website Terra "I would like to play for Real Madrid", but Neville remains dubious over the validity of that widely-reported quote.

"These things always happen when players are away on international duty and are from obscure sources," the England right-back said.

"He's focused completely on doing well for Portugal.

"Anything he does say will be taken out of context, so he can't win."
