Angola striker Manucho Goncalves is thrilled with his stunning move to Manchester United.

The former Petro de Luanda forward was unveiled by United yesterday alongside manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who has already taken the 23 year-old under his wing.

"'You are my son'," Manucho revealed, "that's what the manager said to me when I signed my contract. 'You are my son' in Portuguese. It shows the friendliness of the man."

The 23 year-old forward also remarked: "This is a dream come true. Although, I never imagined when playing in Angola that I would one day join Manchester United. It is a club from another world.

"The welcome I have had from United and the players has been spectacular."

Manucho says Cristiano Ronaldo, Anderson, Nani, Tevez, Rio Ferdinand, Evra and Louis Saha have all been helpful in him settling at the club, where he spent three weeks trialling earlier this month.

"The first couple of days I was scared," he admitted. "But thanks to these players and the coaching staff, I was made to feel welcome and able to totally focus on my work.

"I believe I can make it. I know I need to work hard on my game. But if determination is all that is needed, I can succeed."
