Manchester United signed David de Gea knowing of his vision problems, it has been revealed.

El Confidencial says De Gea was due to undergo laser surgery in March last year, but Atletico Madrid doctors told him to delay the procedure for a year.

The Spaniard moved to England with United well aware of the problem, but there are claims he's having issues with his contact lenses playing under the heavy floodlights in England.

United have recommended De Gea to a specialist to see if his current form problems stem from his vision.
