Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho could be shown the door if he fails to overcome Manchester United in the Champions League.

The Mirror says Mourinho could be facing a humiliating early exit from Real Madrid – unless he overcomes Manchester United in the Champions League.

The Special One’s turbulent reign at the Bernabeu hit a new low after Real Madrid’s 3-2 defeat to Malaga left them 16 points behind bitter rivals Barcelona.

Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo ran a front page yesterday with the headline “A16!” to show the lead and Barcelona fans taunted Real Madrid by using that as a hash tag on Twitter.

Ex-Chelsea boss Mourinho insists he will not quit even though he has conceded the Spanish title to Barcelona.

It leaves him facing another unhappy departure as he is almost certain to leave Real Madrid in the summer – if time is not called on his two-and-a-half-year reign before.

Mourinho is keen on a return to the Premier League with Old Trafford, Manchester City and Chelsea all possible destinations.
