Man Utd should not boo me for Rooney pursuit - Chelsea's Mourinho

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho says there is no reason for Manchester United fans to give him a hostile reception for going after Wayne Rooney.

Mourinho takes his Blues to Old Trafford on Monday night and when asked if the United faithful are in their right to boo him for allegedly unsettling Rooney, the Portuguese said if anyone was to blame, it is David Moyes who in July suggested the England international was a second-choice behind Robin van Persie.

"Why?" Mourinho said of possible jeers from United fans. "They are against me? But I didn't say you will be a second choice for me.

"We are trying to get a player that a manager told will be a second option for him.

"We are not going for van Persie. They don't have to be against me. If I say Ramires is a second option for me and he plays when Lampard is tired or injured and if someone comes here to get Ramires, nobody is upset." Asked if it was Moyes' fault, Mourinho added: "Of course."
