Man Utd send Vidic to Spain to continue rehab

Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has been sent to Spain to continue his knee rehab.

The Mail on Sunday says Vidic has been sent to Spain by Manchester United in a bid to get him fit for the start of the Premier League season.

The Serbian centre-back, who has not played since rupturing a cruciate ligament against Basle in December, has already been ruled out of United's pre-season programme.

But manager Sir Alex Ferguson hopes the 30-year-old, badly missed as United failed to retain their title, will be available for the first Premier League game on August 18.

He said: "We sent Vida to a complex in Spain last week. He's not doing any running yet, just work in the gym. He'll miss the summer tour but hopefully will be ready for the start of the season."
