Manchester United are sending defender Rio Ferdinand to see a back specialist after another spasm forced the 30 year old out of their clash against Chelsea on Sunday. "He's trained all week and had no issues at all," boss Sir Alex Ferguson told Sky Sports 1.

"This morning he woke up with another spasm. So it's a big, big problem for us.

"This has been going on for a while now. So we're sending him to a specialist (on Monday) to do another scan.

"We're going to have to try and get to the bottom of it because it's a disappointment, particularly in such a big game."
