Manchester United could push Everton to agree to an early announcement over the appointment of David Moyes as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor.
The Liverpool Echo says several senior sources in the football world believe Moyes will take over at United in the summer, after first over-seeing Everton's final two games of the Premier League season.
It is believed United are keen to act decisively in revealing the name of their next manager, with any extended uncertainty potentially damaging to their share price on the stock market.
Moyes - who is out of contract at Everton in June - took training as usual at the Toffees' Finch Farm training ground this morning, and was last night at Goodison to watch the club's U-21 side beat Newcastle on penalties in their play-off clash.
