Manchester United have seen off late competition from Manchester City to land Crewe Alexandra attacker Nick Powell.
A proposed bid from Manchester City has never materialised, and now United are firm favourites to wrap up a deal.
Dynamic forward Powell had a hugely impressive campaign for Alex - helping them to promotion to League One via the play-offs in which he netted a stunning goal against Cheltenham in the final at Wembley.
Reports claim that the transfer is '90 per cent' done and that barring any last-minute hitches United will clinch his signing.
It is also understood that the deal could be worth as much as £8m based on appearances and achievements.
