Man Utd see Fulham attacker Dembele as cut-price option

Manchester United are weighing up a move for Fulham attacker Mousa Dembele.

The People says Dembele, 24, has excelled in a new central-midfield role over the past few months and is being closely followed by Sir Alex Ferguson's scouts.

United have prioritised the signing of a creative playmaker in the centre of the park - with Wesley Sneijder and Luka Modric on their radar - while they are locked in what Fergie describes as a "two-horse race" with rivals Manchester City for the title.

But Dembele could prove a cheaper option than either Inter Milan's Sneijder or Tottenham ace Modric, especially as he will have just a year left on his Fulham contract at the end of the season.

Dembele admits he could look to move on if the Cottagers cannot match his ambitions and he would relish Champions League football.
