Manchester United scouts were at Parkhead to see Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic score against Celtic on Tuesday night.
Vucinic's agent confirmed United's interest over the weekend as United manager Sir Alex Ferguson considers alternatives to Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski, who appears committed to Bayern Munich.
Ferguson is convinced about Vucinic's versatility as he seeks a centre-forward capable of also playing wide and is expected to instruct United to make a formal enquiry to Juve about the Montenegro international's availability.
Vucinic, while happy at Juve, has admitted ambition to play in England.
