Man Utd's van der Sar to retire at end of next season

Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has hinted that he will retire at the end of the upcoming season. The 38-year old has apparently discussed his future plans with family and friends and will inform the club when he returns to pre-season training.

A United source said: "Edwin has reviewed his options after each season and thinks this could be his last year.

"He is determined to go out at the top and is raring to go next season."

The former Ajax, Juventus and Fulham man has enjoyed great success with the Red Devils but now looks close to hanging up his gloves, paving the way for 26-year old England squad man Ben Foster.
