Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney and tennis star Andy Murray today paid each other compliments on the world wide web.

Rooney, who is gearing up for Euro2012 with England, was full of praise for Scotsman Murray who advanced to the fourth round of the French Open with a come-from-behind four-set win over France's Richard Gasquet yesterday.

"@andy_murray was unreal today. Composed and class," Rooney posted on Twitter.

Murray later responded, showing his support for Rooney and the England team who kick off their campaign against France in Donetsk on Monday.

"@WayneRooney thanks for the support, all the best for the euros looking forward to it!" he wrote.
