Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has given Luke Shaw another reality check.
The 21-year-old was left out of Mourinho's match day squad for Saturday's 0-0 draw with West Bromwich Albion with Ashley Young playing at left-back.
Shaw has featured only 14 times for the Red Devils this season as Mourinho has preferred Young, Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind ahead of him.
"It's difficult for him to be on the bench," said Mourinho.
"Why? Because I cannot compare him with Ashley Young, with Darmian, with Blind.
"I cannot compare the way he trains, the way he way he commits, the focus, the ambition.
"I cannot compare. He is a long way behind."
These comments suggest that there is no way back for Shaw under Mourinho and the former Southampton star is likely to be sold in the summer.
