Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal insists he does not regret his decision to offload Danny Welbeck in the summer.
The Dutchman sold the striker, 24, to Arsenal for £16million prior to the 2014/15 season and it appeared to backfire after Welbeck netted the winning goal in the FA Cup quarter-final on Monday night.
The England international rounded David De Gea to slot home in the 61st minute of the eventual 2-1 triumph but van Gaal was still adamant that it was the right choice to sell the player.
"Yes. A lot of times a player shall be very motivated against the club he played for, but I think we gave that goal [away]," said van Gaal when asked if he stood by his transfer decision.
Welbeck nipped in to pounce on a under-hit backpass from Antonio Valencia to send holders Arsenal through to the FA Cup semi-finals where they will meet the winner of the Reading v Bradford City replay.
