Man Utd's Lindegaard in danger of missing Liverpool clash

Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard is facing a race against time to be fit for next weekend's Premier League meeting with Liverpool.

The 27-year old has withdrawn from the Denmark squad for their Euro2012 qualifying double header against Cyprus and Portugal after suffering a knock on his ankle in the 2-0 win over Norwich City on the weekend.

Lindegaard is now looking to get fit for the trip to Anfield on October 15 after admitting he probably should have come off during the victory over the Canaries.

"I got a stamp on my ankle at the start of the match and should perhaps have come off, but it was not an option in my mind," he said.

"I chose to carry on and pay the price. And although I have to sit on the couch with my leg up now, it was incredibly important to me to play.

"It's not something seriously wrong in the foot - other than that it looks like a cube in a rainbow of colours.

"The medical staff at United believe that the earliest I could train again is next week.

"I won't take any chances and risk anything right now, when things are going so great at the club."
