Man Utd's Jones delighted to have skipper Vidic back

Manchester United young gun Phil Jones has spoken of his delight at having captain Nemanja Vidic back in the team.

The Serbian international came off the bench in Saturday's 3-1 home win over Sunderland to mark his first appearance since injuring his knee in the champions League against Galatasaray in September.

Jones was happy to see Vidic back in the heart of United's defence and believes it will only serve the team well as competition for defensive spots heats up.

"It's a fantastic boost for us to have Nemanja back," Jones told reporters. "He's a fantastic player, a great captain and it's important he's back for the busy festive period.

"I enjoy the competition for places, it's great to have a number of players battling for the same position.

"It keeps people on their toes and keeps us fighting for the shirt.

"We see it in training - the sessions are intense, there's a good atmosphere."
