Phil Jones is in danger of missing Manchester United's Champions League Round of 16 second leg with Real Madrid.
The defender played a crucial role in abating Cristiano Ronaldo's influence in the 1-1 first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu last week but an ankle injury sustained in the FA Cup fifth round win over Reading on Monday night could keep him out of the Old Trafford bout with the Spanish champions on March 5.
"We are working very hard. He has an outside chance for Real Madrid - no more than that," United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said.
"He is a young man who went into a tackle too brave and was a bit off-balanced.
"He certainly won't be fit for the weekend."
