Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has heaped praise on Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez following his dramatic winner on Wednesday night.

The Mexican striker, who is on loan from Manchester United, netted in the 88th minute as the Spanish giants edged Atletico Madrid 1-0 in the Champions League quarter-final second leg.

Chicharito has not enjoyed much joy since his move to the Santiago Bernabeu but Ancelotti was delighted to see him come up with such a vital goal for the reigning European champions.

"He was a fantastic solution because he played really well with a lot of intensity," said the boss.

"He deserved it because he hasn't played a lot this season but when I told him to play he was ready.

"He was professional and I'm happy for him."

Los Blancos are now through to the Champions League semi-finals after a 1-0 aggregate win. They will learn their final four fate at the draw in Switzerland on Friday.
