Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher has been named in the Scotland squad for next month's Euro2012 qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Lithuania. Fletcher has been sidelined for months with a stomach virus but is now back in both the United and Scotland squads as Craig Levein's men get set to face the Czechs on Saturday, September 3 and Lithuania three days later, with both matches at Hampden Park.
Fletcher will take the captains armband after striker Kenny Miller led the side in their past few outings and Levein is delighted to have him back.
"He's arguably our best player. He's a role model and an example t the rest of the guys in the squad," he said.
"I really am thrilled to bits to have him back in. I will give a special mention to Kenny Miller for his role as captain when Darren hasn't been there. I think he's been fantastic and I have a lot to thank him for."
