Man Utd's Fletcher not hoping to be a Scotland hero

Darren Fletcher is not counting on being an inspiration to people of a hero when he makes his Scotland comeback tonight.

The Manchester United midfielder has not represented his country since November last year because of a chronic bowel problem but does not profess to be a some sort of inspiring figure as he and his Scottish teammates prepare for Wales in World Cup qualifying in Cardiff.

"I want to play everything down about coming back and being an inspiration to people," he said.

"For the time being I'm back and that's all I can ask for. I still have to fight it every day.

"But I'm capable of playing in both games against Wales and Belgium (on Tuesday). It won't be a problem for me as long as I don't pick up an injury.

"Just to be sitting here in the team hotel the night before the game, in terms of my excitement levels, it feels like I'm about to win my first cap all over again.

"Because there was doubt that I would ever be back, it just feels amazing to be a part of it again."
