Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is aware his side will drop points in the final 12 matches of the Premier League season.

United sit 12 points clear of crosstown rivals Manchester City ahead of the season run-in with Roberto Mancini suggesting the current league leaders will certainly have some slip-ups along the way.

Ferguson knows very well that is the case but he suggests that City, who have not won in their past three league outings, will also have their own mishaps along the way.

"The only way we can approach it is by taking care of each game and eventually we run out of matches," Ferguson said.

"I can understand from Manchester City's point of view why they are talking about us dropping points.

"But the fact of the matter is they will drop them as well."

United are away to bottom-placed QPR on Saturday as City prepare to host third-placed Chelsea the following day.
