Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes his fellow Scots are capable of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Speaking at the Scotland Hall of Fame dinner on Sunday, the world-famous tactician pointed out that Craig Levein has a very strong midfield on his hands which could guide the Tartan Army through to the finals in Brazil in two-and-a-half years time.
"I think Scotland has a group of very, very good midfield players. That's the strength," he said.
"At the moment you would think that if they could get a couple more players in important positions they could be decent. But in midfield they are very good.
"There is a collection of them - James Morrison, Graham Dorrans, James McArthur, Darren Fletcher. There are quite a few players there. And Steven Naismith does a fantastic job.
"They are doing well. I thought they played really good football in Cyprus the other night.
"So midfield is definitely the key area. If they are going to qualify for the World Cup, that's going to be their strength."
