Man Utd's Ferguson accuses Liverpool's Torres of cheating

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is adamant Liverpool striker Fernando Torres tried to have John O'Shea sent off in Sunday's 3-2 win at Old Trafford.

The Spaniard went down when challenged by O'Shea with Steven Gerrard managing to score the ensuing free-kick which enabled the Reds to level the score in the 70th minute.

Ferguson believes Torres played it for everything in trying to have O'Shea sent from the pitch.

"I've watched it again and I have to say Torres made a meal of it," said Ferguson. "He made an absolute meal of it to get our player sent off."

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson had a differing view: "My first thought was that it was a foul, but I don't think O'Shea should have been sent off."
