Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has been fined £45,000 for comments he made on Twitter recently.
The centre-back reacted amusingly to another users post regarding Ashley Cole as a 'choc-ice' which caused a lot of controversy at the Football Association offices.
The slang term, describing the Chelsea full-back as 'black on the outside, white on the inside', is believed to derogatory and Ferdinand has now been fined for his part in the social networking incident.
"The Commission decided that the comment was improper and brought the game into disrepute," read a statement on the FA's official website.
"In addition, the Commission found that the breach included a reference to ethnic origin, colour or race. Ferdinand was fined £45,000 and warned as to his future conduct."
