Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra has urged club officials to never pick wantaway striker Wayne Rooney again. The 24-year old England international has betrayed his teammates by releasing a statement saying he wants to leave the club and his words have raised plenty of anger from Frenchman Evra who believes Rooney should not wear a Red Devils shirt again as the club strives to get back to the summit of the Premier League.
"If one player does not trust the other players, that player should not play," Evra said.
"I am not like that as I trust everyone and I know we can win. I've been here for four years and every time, until last year, I have won the league.
"It hurt last season. This is Manchester United and we must win trophies. That is the pressure of playing here.
"No team is better than us at the moment - you may think I'm crazy, but I say it because it's true. Manchester belong at the top and I'm confident we can do that.
"We need to be professional. We need to perform. I don't like excuses about what's going on around the club. Everyone needs to focus on themselves.
"The situation with Wayne Rooney is for the boss, not for the players. We are just focused on winning games and bringing back the winning mentality. It's about doing the basics.
"Everyone talks about Manchester United, but nobody has beaten us.
"The problem has been us - we have made some silly mistakes, but teams have not been better than us. We have not been playing badly.
"The target for us is to win back the title and we are focused on doing that."
