Man Utd's Carrick absent from England training

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick was the only player absent from England training today ahead of the weekend's clash with Switzerland.

The 29-year old missed the session at Arsenal's Colney complex because of a knock he picked up during Saturday night's ill-fated Champions League final and is in danger of missing the Euro2012 qualifier at Wembley.

Last week, Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe and Fulham goalkeeper David Stockdale were ruled out with manager Fabio Capello drafting in Carrick and West Ham United's Robert Green to make a squad of 24 for the Group G encounter with the Swiss.

But the former Spurs man is now likely to miss after being unable to train this morning as the Three Lions aim to stay at the top of their group.
