The News of the World says United intend to drop their interest in Tottenham forward Dimitar Berbatov and will pursue alternative targets.

Among those watched have been Ajax hitman Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Blackburn's Roque Santa Cruz - both also chased by Arsenal.
