Manchester United are set to offer veteran midfielder Paul Scholes a new contract.
The freshly-turned 35-year old will receive an offer of a further 12 months from United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, taking him into his 17th year at Old Trafford.
Scholes' current contract is up next summer but his recent form indicates he is ready to go on for at least another year.
This season, Scholes has found himself back as a starting player in the centre of Ferguson's midfield, keeping younger players out of the team and Ferguson is keen to keep him around as not only is his form good, but his presence and experience in the dressing room is invaluable.
