Manchester United are reviving a bid for Benfica midfielder Nico Gaitan.

A Bola says Gaitan has frequently been linked with the Red Devils, who have resumed their interest as Louis van Gaal looks to bolster his midfield ranks.

United representatives have extensively scouted the Argentine midfielder over several seasons and their assessments resulted in a £23m January bid.

He signed a new four-year contract in December that included a £35m release clause.
