Manchester United have a £750m sponsorship deal with German kit manufacturer Adidas and in the small print is a pretty significant clause.

It was known there would be a reduction in the annual payment if United failed to qualify for the Champions League for a second successive season and the club have revealed just how much.

United confirmed it was 30%. In other words it will cost the Old Trafford outfit £22m if Jose Mourinho fails to secure a top four finish this season.
