Manchester United are closing on a deal for Newell's Old Boys starlet Luciano Cingolani.

Rosario 3 reports United have begun talks to sign Cingolani.

The Red Devils' academy director Martin Mackey is reported to have been in touch with the Argentinian club.

The Rosario-based club have yet to reply to the enquiry, according to Mackey, with the United chief also intent on Cingolani remaining with the club for the time being.

But United have registered their interest and appear intent on making a move when the timing is right for the young striker.
