Manchester United resisted offers from West Ham and Newcastle for contract rebel Wes Brown last month.

Brown could now quit United for nothing at the end of this season as he continues to baulk at signing a new deal.

The Daily Mail says chief executive David Gill confirmed West Ham made contact with them about Brown and that they rejected a bid from Newcastle.
