Manchester United have rejected the chance to sign Bolton Wanderers striker Nicolas Anelka, it has been revealed.

Despite their injury problems hanging over Wayne Rooney, Louis Saha and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson chose to resist a bid for Anelka, says the Daily Mail.

Anelka was offered to Manchester United last week but they turned down the opportunity to sign a player who only joined Bolton a year ago in an £8m deal from Fenerbahce.
