Shanghai Shenhua have reportedly submitted a £27million bid for Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney.

The Daily Mirror is reporting the Chinese Super League club are willing to pay Rooney £500,000-a-week to make him the face of the competition.

The 30-year-old England international has two years remaining on his current deal at Old Trafford.

It is understood Rooney is reluctant to uproot his young family, but the money on offer in Shanghai may be too good to refuse.
