Manchester United are ready to bid for Juventus midfielder Douglas Costa.
The Mirror says United are weighing up a £40million summer swoop for Brazil star Douglas Costa.
Jose Mourinho is understood to have instructed United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to assess the viability of a move for the forward.
Costa, 27, currently on a season-long loan at Juventus from Bayern Munich, has long been linked with a potential move to United.
Former United boss Sir Alex Ferguson monitored his progress with a view to making a move for Costa when he was impressing at home club Gremio and later Shakhtar Donetsk, but the switch never happened.
Although Juventus have an option to sign Costa on a permanent basis as part of their loan agreement with Bayern, they may ultimately decide not to take that up, leaving United free to step in and land him.
