Manchester United have been linked with a shock move for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi.
The Argentina international is expected to join Real Madrid next month, with Spanish sources insisting a medical in Madrid is slated for next week. A fee of €90-100m has been mentioned.
However, Don Balon says United are in contact with Inter intermediaries about a deal worth €140m. They would also pay Icardi terms on par of Paul Pogba.
Icardi's agent and wife, Wanda Nara, fueled talk of a move to Madrid last week when stating: “I don't know anything about Real Madrid, so I won't say no and I won't say yes.
"If it were up to Mauro he'd stay at Inter for life, but then there are other things we can't know.
“We hope so though."
It's suggested United are putting down foundations to sign Icardi next summer.
