Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has played coy when asked about the club's interest in Roma's Kevin Strootman.
The 24-year old Dutch midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford with some reports suggesting he has even entered into a handshake agreement with van Gaal.
But recent comments from chief executive Ed Woodward and van Gaal himself state that United are unlikely to sign any new players in January and the manager kept to that mindset when asked about the possible Strootman deal.
"I cannot discuss with the media about players that we want to buy. I cannot answer this question and not only about Strootman but all the players in this world," said van Gaal.
