Manchester United remain keen on Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld - but not at their current price.

The Daily Express says United are still interested in Alderweireld.

Discussions over the Belgian defender, currently at the World Cup with his country, have stalled however. United boss Jose Mourinho is concerned about being "held hostage" over his price tag, which is said to be around £60m.

Mourinho rates the Belgian closer to £40m and is reluctant to pay over the odds.

For his part, Alderweireld hasn't ruled out staying with Spurs next season.
