Manchester United midfielder Matt James is confident of a successful loan with Preston North End.
James believes that playing competitive football for the England U19s in the summer has given him a good platform heading into the season.
He told pne.com: "It helped me playing the four games which were very serious games. In pre-season games, sometimes players turn up to concentrate on their fitness work, I have been playing in games in which we needed to win those games to try and qualify and then make the semi-final.
"That probably stood me in good stead playing four full 90 minutes so I felt quite good today. Hopefully now I can keep it going for the whole of the season."
