Man Utd preparing bid for Montpellier playmaker Remy Cabella

Manchester United are chasing Montpellier starlet Remy Cabella. The Daily Star says United are preparing an approach for Cabella in January.

The 23-year-old has surged through Montpellier's ranks from the academy and is recognised as one of the hottest prospects in France, being compared to Zinedine Zidane with his style of play.

Arsenal are likely to compete United for the Frenchman, who would follow in the footsteps of former Montpellier team-mate Olivier Giroud if they were successful in doing so.

Reports suggest that United are readying a £15million bid for Cabella, despite Montpellier president Louis Nicollin warning clubs would need to cough up £85million to sign him.

"He is non-transferable. We try to anticipate and plan things, even in football, but it's complicated," the Montpellier president said.

"The desire of the club is to keep Remy - he was told and knows this. If a club arrives and offers €100m (£85m), it will be discussed though."
