Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is eyeing a £20 million bid for Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina in the summer.

The Daily Star says Ferguson has already drawn up a shortlist of candidates to replace the retiring Edwin van der Sar which includes Liverpool hero Reina.

Anfield's new owners are reluctant to sell and know offloading Reina, 28, to the club's fierce rivals would be a complete PR disaster.

The Spain keeper has spoken of his desire to play Champions League football, and with Liverpool struggling to qualify, a move to United would tempt him.

Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and Atletico Madrid keeper David de Gea also feature on Fergie's list should a move for Reina fail to come off.
