Manchester United have been tracking Real Madrid fullback Marcelo this season.
The Telegraph says United manager David Moyes wants to find a new left-back signing in January and Marcelo is on his radar.
Marcelo has been a regular for the Spanish club this season.
A renewed move for Real's Portuguese defender, Fabio Coentrao, is unlikely next month, however, despite the 25-year-old returning to training during the La Liga winter break following a hamstring injury.
