Man Utd ponder using RvP to land Lazio midfielder Felipe Anderson

Manchester United could use Robin van Persie as a makeweight in a deal for Lazio midfielder Felipe Anderson. United boss Louis van Gaal believes the exciting 22-year-old Brazilian could be the perfect addition to his squad as he seeks a midfielder who can dictate play and tempo with Michael Carrick - recently given a one-year deal - nearing the end of his days at Old Trafford, says the Sunday Mirror.

But United have big competition for Anderson, with Barcelona, Manchester City and Chelsea all declaring an interest in taking the £30million-rated South American star.

An ace card for United could be Lazio's interest in Old Trafford striker Robin van Persie, who is uncertain of his future.

The Italians are believed to have made a tentative inquiry for the Dutchman, who is open-minded about a move to Serie A.
