Manchester United are being linked with Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric.
The Sunday Express says United may move for Modric should they decide the asking price for Inter Milan playmaker Wesley Sneijder is too rich.
Only last week, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson admitted he regarded the Croatian as this season's player of the year.
Modric could become available at Spurs should they fail to finish in the top four.
